Highlights of the Regular Meeting of Council on Tuesday, May 8, 2023

Report on 2023-2026 Corporate Strategic Plan

Daryl Skworchinski, CAO/Clerk, reviewed the report in its entirety.  Mr. Skworchinski recommended that the 2023 – 2026 Corporate Strategic Plan be accepted as presented.

Report on Appointment of Acting Fire Chief

Daryl Skworchinski, CAO/Clerk, reviewed the report in its entirety.  Mr. Skworchinski recommended that the appropriate by-law be adopted appointing an Acting Fire Chief.

Report on New Fees and Charges – 2023

Daryl Skworchinski, CAO/Clerk, reviewed the report in its entirety.  Mr. Skworchinski recommended that the appropriate by-laws be adopted amending the Town’s fees and charges and the Town’s traffic and parking by-law.

Report on Investment Policy – Annual Treasurer’s Report

Chuck Verbo, Finance and Administration Manager/Treasurer, reviewed the report in its entirety.  Mr. Verbo noted that the report was being presented for members information purposes only.

Report on 2023 Tax Ratios

Chuck Verbo, Finance and Administration Manager/Treasurer, reviewed the report in its entirety.  Mr. Verbo recommended that the appropriate by-law be adopted accepting the 2023 Tax Ratios, confirm Property Classes and to set Tax Rate Reductions for Prescribed Property Sub-classes for the 2023 taxation year.

Report on 2023 Budget – Excluded Expenses

Chuck Verbo, Finance and Administration Manager/Treasurer, reviewed the report in its entirety.  Mr. Verbo recommended that Council accepts the exclusion of amortization, post-employment benefits expenses and landfill closure expenses from the 2023 budget process.
