Highlights of the Regular Meeting of Council on Monday, December 18, 2023

 

 

Report on Corporate Strategic Plan – 2023 Progress Report and 2024 Plans.

Daryl Skworchinski, CAO/Clerk, reviewed the report in its entirety.  Mr. Skworchinski highlighted the major capital projects that were completed and provided an overview of the plans for 2024.

 

Report on 2024 Fees and Service Charges.

Chuck Verbo, Administration & Finance Manager/Treasurer, reviewed the report in its entirety. Council deliberated the annual boat launch fee and agreed to an increase of $50, bags tags/tipping fees will not increase in January but will be reviewed in the new year, and the single fitness class fee decreased to reflect that there is no longer an aquafit program. Mr. Verbo recommended that the 2024 fees and service charges be approved with adjustments.

 

Report on 2023 Tax Adjustments.

Chuck Verbo, Finance & Administration Manager, reviewed the report in its entirety.  Mr. Verbo recommended that $62,074.76 as detailed in the report be written off in 2023.

 

Report on Marathon 2023 Emergency Management Plan.

Serena Goodchild, Communications Manager/Deputy Clerk, reviewed the report in its entirety.  Mrs. Goodchild recommended that the 2023 Emergency Management Plan and Program be approved as presented.

 

Mayor Dumas reviewed municipal facility closures during the Holidays and noted the information will be available on the Town’s website, social media sites and in the Marathon Mercury.

 

Members took the opportunity to send holiday greetings to fellow members, staff and residents.
