Committee of Adjustment
Overview
The Committee of Adjustment is a statutory committee established under the Ontario Planning Act. It makes decisions on specific types of planning applications that require public review and hearing.
This includes:
- Minor variances to zoning requirements
- Consent applications (land severances)
- Any other matters permitted under the Planning Act
Meetings are open to the public, and decisions are made through a formal hearing process.
What We Do
The Committee considers applications where flexibility from zoning rules or property division is requested. Each application is reviewed on its own merits, with consideration for:
- The intent of the Zoning By-law
- The impact on neighbouring properties
- The public interest
- Provincial planning policies
