The Town of Marathon offers a variety of affordable, clean, and convenient rental spaces both indoors and outdoors.

Use of Music

Under federal legislation, a licensing fee must be paid to Entandem if live or recorded music will be played at your event. This applies to all events held in Town facilities.


Alcohol at Events

If you plan to serve alcohol, you must follow the steps outlined in the Town’s Municipal Alcohol Policy. This includes obtaining the proper permits and ensuring compliance with all safety requirements.


Liability Insurance

The Town of Marathon carries Local Community General Liability Insurance for participants using our facilities. Event organizers must report any incidents that occur during a rental to the Community Services & Recreation Department.

Smoke-Free Facilities

In accordance with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, smoking and vaping are prohibited in all enclosed public spaces , including municipal recreation facilities.

Additionally, Town by-laws ban smoking or vaping anywhere on the Recreation Complex property.
Violations are subject to fines.


Payment Terms and Conditions

  • The Town is not responsible for personal injury or loss during use of its facilities or services.

  • A $50 key deposit may be required. This will be refunded upon return of the key.

  • Cleaning/damage deposits may apply for rentals of the Lakeview Community Hall Gymnasium, Multipurpose Room, or Theatre.

    • Deposits are refunded after inspection and if cleanliness standards are met.

    • Renters may choose to forfeit the deposit and have the Town handle the cleaning.

  • The applicant assumes full responsibility for damages or losses during their use and agrees to reimburse the Town accordingly.

  • The Town reserves the right to cancel any rental without notice.

  • Full payment is required prior to the event, unless invoicing arrangements are made in advance.

  • Use of extra equipment or services may result in additional fees.


Booking & Payment Information

  • No booking is considered final until:

    • A rental permit is issued;

    • Full payment is received;

    • Written confirmation is provided or you are contacted by staff.

  • Accepted payment methods: Cash, Cheque, Debit, Visa, MasterCard.


Event Promotion

The applicant is responsible for promoting their event or activity. The Town is not liable for any financial or other risks related to competing or conflicting events.
