The Town of Marathon is Embracing and Promoting RESPECT

What Does RESPECT Mean?
Respect (verb): To show regard or consideration for — “to respect someone's rights.”
Everyone has a role to play in upholding our shared Rights and Responsibilities as members of this community.
Our Rights Include:
- Being treated with respect as a basic human right — regardless of race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, religion, intellectual capacity, body shape, disability, age, family background, parental status, or socio-economic background.
- The right to live and work in an environment that is dignified and free from harassment.
- The right to fairness, inclusion, and kindness in all settings.
- The right to speak up and expect action when disrespected.
Our Responsibilities Include:
- Communicating in a positive, inclusive, and respectful manner.
- Leading by example and contributing to a respectful workplace and community.
- Treating others equitably and fairly.
- Supporting those who experience harassment or discrimination by listening and standing with them.
- Speaking up when disrespect occurs, and offering constructive paths forward.
- Taking responsibility for our actions and helping create a healthier, more inclusive environment.
