The Town of Marathon is part of the Thunder Bay District in Northwestern Ontario.

Each year, the Town prepares operating and capital budgets that outline scheduled services and infrastructure projects for the community. Property tax rates are based on the amount required to fund these annual budgets.

Section 294(1) of the Municipal Act requires that each municipality will annually report on its financial affairs, accounts and transactions in the form of the Financial Information Return (FIR).  This information is publicly available to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs’ website.
