News Release
Today marks an exciting milestone for the Town of Marathon!
We are pleased to share our official news release regarding today's special announcement. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this significant investment in our community and the future of Marathon.
Phase 2 Road Work Update – July 21
The completion stage of Phase 2 road repair work is scheduled to begin July 21, 2026, weather pending.
Residents should expect minor detours and brief delays as crews finalize surface treatments and complete remaining repair sections. These temporary traffic adjustments help ensure safe working conditions for NCS contractors.
Thank you for your patience as we continue improving roadway quality across Marathon.
Smoke from wildfires is causing poor air quality and reduced visibility. Conditions may improve late Thursday.
During heavy smoke conditions, everyone’s health is at risk regardless of their age or health status.
Limit time outdoors. Reschedule or cancel outdoor sports, activities and events.
The Town of Marathon is currently within a Restricted Fire Zone.
No fire permits will be issued or sold until the Restricted Fire Zone has been lifted. This means no open-air burning requiring a permit is permitted during this time.
This includes:
🔥 Campfires and recreational fires
🔥 Outdoor fire pits and fireplaces
🔥 Chimineas
🔥 Burning grass, leaves, brush, or yard debris
🔥 Any other open-air burning that requires a permit
These restrictions are in place to help reduce the risk of wildfires and protect our community, residents, visitors, and our emergency responders.
⚠️ Emergencies can happen with little warning. Whether it's a wildfire, road closure, water advisory, power outage, or another urgent municipal notice, getting information quickly can make all the difference.
