Public Statement - Receipt of No Board Report

Subject: Receipt of No Board Report

On November 25th, the Town of Marathon received confirmation that the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development has issued a No Board Report regarding negotiations with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 2, which represents employees working in the Town’s recreation facilities and municipal cleaning services.

The issuance of a No Board Report is a standard step in the collective bargaining process. It indicates that the parties have not yet reached an agreement and begins the countdown to when legal strike or lockout action could occur.

There is currently no labour action underway. All recreation facilities including, the Marathon Recreation Complex, arena, Lakeview Community Hall, fitness areas, and all related programs remain open and operating as usual.

The Town of Marathon remains committed to negotiating in good faith and working toward a fair and responsible agreement that supports employees while ensuring the continued delivery of safe, reliable recreational services for the community.

Residents will continue to be updated through the Town’s website and official communication channels as the process moves forward.
