Emergency Plan

The Town of Marathon is committed to protecting our community in the event of an emergency. Our emergency plans and programs are developed in alignment with provincial regulations and are supported by strong partnerships with local first responders, health services, social services, utility providers, and dedicated volunteer groups.

Marathon’s Emergency Plan Includes:

  • Appointment of a Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC)
  • Designation of a primary Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and an alternate location
  • Establishment of a Community Emergency Management Program Committee
  • Maintenance of an approved Community Emergency Plan
  • Ongoing development of local emergency response capabilities
  • Implementation of public education programs to promote safety and preparedness
  • Identification and training of community emergency information staff
  • Annual training exercises and emergency simulations
  • Yearly review of the Emergency Plan to ensure effectiveness and compliance
