The Town of Marathon prepares operating and capital budgets each year that outline scheduled services and projects. Tax rates are based on the amount needed to fund the annual budget.

Historical Financial Information
Section 294(1) of the Municipal Act requires that each municipality will annually report on its financial affairs, accounts and transactions in the form of the Financial Information Return (FIR). This information is publicly available to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs’ website.
The Town of Marathon is grouped with the municipalities in the Thunder Bay District of North-Western Ontario.
