The Town of Marathon intends to participate in one or more procurements conducted by Local Authority Services (LAS) between July 2023 to June 2024. For further information and access to LAS request for proposal (RFP) notices, please review the website at www.las.on.ca.

Current Projects

TBT Engineering Ltd. (TBTE) on behalf of the Corporation of the Town of Marathon would like to invite your company to submit a quotation for hazardous material abatement for the Marathon Public Works Site – Building B (lunchroom) located in the Public Works Compound on Penn Lake Road in Marathon.
A DSS was completed by TBTE in 2022 and identified the following materials as hazardous. Attached is the floor plan of the building with locations of the identified hazardous materials.

Asbestos

- Pink/grey exterior siding (5-15% Chrysotile)

- Grey exterior caulking (0.5-5% Chrysotile)

Lead

- Pink/grey painted exterior siding (26,700 mg/kg)
- Green paint behind the asbestos siding (109,000 mg/kg)
- Light blue painted interior walls and ceiling (170 mg/kg)
- Dark grey painted interior walls (132 mg/kg)


Mercury

-Pink painted siding (14mg/kg)

Work shall include the abatement of the asbestos exterior siding and exterior caulking, removal of lead paint in the interior of the building and removal of leachate toxic lead paint on the exterior. The Town of Marathon Public Works Team will complete the remaining demolition of the building.

Work can commence after August 15th, 2024, and TBTE will complete the pre-abatement and post-abatement inspections.
Leachate toxic paint will require special disposal requirements and it will be the responsibility of the contractor to make all arrangements (transport/disposal) associated with the waste prior to the start of the project. All work must follow the Ontario Regulation 278/05 and the Ontario Ministry of Labour’s – A Guide to the Regulation Respecting Asbestos on Construction Projects and in Buildings and Repair Operations (May 2011), and Ontario Regulation 347 General - Waste Management.

Vendors need to log in (if you have already created a vendor account) or create an account and register for the bid before downloading the bid documents.

  1. Log in or create an account
  2. Click on the "Bids Homepage"
  3. To view a detailed description of the Bid/Tender and access the downloadable Bid documents, click "Bid Details"
  4. If you are not already a registered vendor, click on the "Register for this Bid" button
  5. Fill in your information and submit your payment
  6. When payment is complete, go back to the homepage and select the bid you registered for to download all bids documents and any addenda
  7. If you wish to download additional copies, simply return to our site and log in with the same username and password that was used when you registered for the bid.
  8. Instructions on how to submit your bid are included in the bid documents.

All Bidders are to note that any addendum(s) to the bid documents will be posted with the bid documents on the Town of Marathon's Bids and Tenders webpage. It is the bidder's responsibility to check this web page often for any addendum. Any bid submission received without the appropriate addendum attached and signed by the bidder may be rejected. All registered plan takers will receive an email notice as addendums are issued.
