Lifeguard/Instructor (Internal/External Posting)

Reporting to the Community Services & Communications Manager, this position will work with the Senior Guard to provide safe supervision, coordinate and instruct a wide variety of aquatic programs, complete required documentation, assist in the mechanical operation of the filter room, balance water chemistry and assist in the daily cleanliness of the facility.

This posting is open to all Town employees.  This position is encompassed by SEIU Local 2 BGPWU and applications will be processed in the following order:

•  Minimum of grade 12 and one (1) year of experience in a related field

•  Valid National Lifeguard Service certificate with pool option; Swim, Lifesaving and Emergency First Aid Instructor certificates; standard          first aid and CPR/AED certificate and WHMIS certificate

•  Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to teach children and adults

•  Able to supervise, guide and motivate staff

•  Working knowledge of Ontario Regulation 565/90 regarding Public Pools

•  Physically able to perform all activities related to this position

•  Willing and able to keep current and upgrade qualifications as necessary

•  Available to work days, evenings, as well as weekend hours, perform rotating shifts to fulfil the requirements of a seven-day a week              operation and able to work on short notice

•  Provide a vulnerable sector check satisfactory to the Employer

•  Valid Class “G” driver’s license

Hours of work:         Minimum twenty (20) hours per week – days, evenings and weekends

Rate of Pay:              $ 30.96 per hour
