Visitor Information Centre

imageThe Marathon Visitor Information Centre, located at 5 Highway 17 South, is a popular tourist hub serving 10,000 visitors each year. It is fully staffed and operational from the beginning of May until the end of September. The building also serves as the Superior Slopes chalet during the downhill skiing season.

Our Visitor Centre is beautifully designed to reflect the community and its rich history. Visitors can find information brochures, maps, and guides, not only for Marathon, but for several travel destinations throughout Canada and the US. We also feature an exhibit of works from our local artists.

Identification

When entering Canada from the United States, U.S. citizens should be prepared to produce either a passport or other proof of US citizenship such as a birth certificate and photo identification.

Children

If you are a single parent bringing children with you, or are a grandparent or guardian with children in your care, you should carry custody documents or a letter from the non-custodial parent.  Travellers without these documents can experience delays at the border.  Youth under 18 entering Canada alone should carry a letter from their parents authorizing their trip.

Firearms

Pistols (other than those with a travel permit and that are used for in competition), automatic weapons and firearms with a barrel less than 66 centimetres (26 inches) in length cannot be transported into the country.  Most sporting rifles and shotguns may be brought in duty-free.

Vehicles

Seatbelts are required in Canada. Children under 18 kilograms (40 pounds) must be secured in child seats.

Speed limits and distances are measured in kilometers.  Radar detectors are prohibited.

Pets

If you bring a pet over three (3) months old into the country, you must bring along a certificate showing that the animal has been vaccinated for rabies within the past three (3) years.
