Superior Slopes

Our Facilities ( CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE)

Just east of Marathon, lies one of the North Shore's finest ski facilities!  Superior Slopes Ski Hill offers a 72 metre vertical slope in eleven exciting runs  for all levels of skiers.  A modern two person chair lift runs up the "Kimmerle" or main run.  This run, was named after long time volunteer and ski enthusiast Ludwig Kimmerle.

Warm up next to the stone fireplace inside our beautiful chalet.  These colourful rocks were naturally polished by Lake Superior's wave action and similar rocks can be found on our many local beaches including Pebble Beach in downtown Marathon. Enjoy the view from inside or take advantage of the spacious deck.  The deck is supported by large boom logs that provide evidence of our  log drive history.  The Chalet is open to snowmobile traffic during regular hours of operation.

Our facility comes to life once sufficient snow has fallen and is open weekends as long as snow conditions allow.  Our Guest Services is located on the main floor, and it is here that you can purchase your season pass or lift ticket, and  find information about upcoming programs or clinics.  Our rates are very reasonable enabling you to come back often.

Downstairs you will find a full pro-shop complete with boots, skis, poles and snowboards.   Our pro-shop staff will help you find the best fit, assist with repairs, or wax your skis or snowboards to ensure a smooth ride.  Lockers are available for seasonal or casual rental.  Hungry skiers will appreciate the snacks, refreshments and of course hot chocolate located in the canteen.

If you are attempting this winter activity for the first time, or after a number of years, you will benefit from ski lessons that are offered by trained community members. Grade Five students can ski or snowboard for free through the Snow'Pass Program. Whether you are coming via Highway 17, or one of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs groomed trails, we invite you Go For the Snow!
