Booking your event at a Town Of
The Town of Marathon offers a variety of indoor and outdoor rental
spaces for private functions. Our facilities are affordable, clean and
located right in your community.
If you are planning to host a Birthday Party a Dance or a Meeting
we have the space for you.

Use of Music
Organizers of events held in Town facilities are required under federal legislation to pay a licensing fee to SOCAN (Society of Composers and Authors) if they are having live or recorded music or dancing at their event.
If you are planning to host an event at a Town of Marathon Facility and serve alcohol, there are a number of steps you must follow. Our Municipal Alcohol Policy has all the information you need.
The Town of Marathon carries Local Community General Liability Insurance for the protection of participants using Town of Marathon facilities. Representatives shall be responsible to notify the Town of Marathon if an incident occurs in connection with the rental of ice. Some restrictions apply, contact the Parks & Recreation department for more information.
The Smoke-Free Ontario Act prohibits smoking in all enclosed public places, including all municipal recreation facilities. Town of Marathon by-laws further prohibit smoking anywhere on the Recreation Complex property. Contraventions are subject to fines as outlined in the Smoke-Free Ontario Act.
Payment Terms and Conditions
The Town of Marathon will not be held responsible for personal injury or loss suffered by anyone while a facility, equipment or services are being used.
The Town of Marathon reserves the right to request a $50 deposit for keys issued to the applicant. Upon return of the keys, the $50 deposit will be refunded.
All Lakeview Community Hall Gymnasium, Multipurpose Room & Theatre rentals may require a damage/cleaning deposit, once an inspection has been done and cleanliness standards have been met, a refund will be issued to the renter. The renter has the option to forfeit their cleaning deposit if they would like the Town of Marathon to clean the facility rented.
The applicant assumes responsibility for all damages/losses arising from the use of facilities, equipment and services and agrees to reimburse for any costs incurred as a result of such damages and/or losses.
The Town of Marathon reserves the right to cancel any rental without notice.
All payments must be received prior to the event/activity, unless arrangements for invoicing have been made. A fee may be levied for the use of equipment or services. The user accepts responsibility for payment.
The Town of Marathon’s grounds and facilities are designated non-smoking as per provincial legislation and municipal by-law.
The applicant is responsible for advertising/promoting its event/activity and assumes all financial and other risks created by competing/conflicting events/activities.

The rental application is to be returned to the Parks & Recreation Office at the Marathon Recreation Complex during office hours or faxed to (807) 229-2499. No facility is officially booked until a contract is signed and returned (if necessary), and appropriate payment has been received, written confirmation is returned to you, or you are notified by our staff.
