AnnouncementsTown of Marathon Holiday Schedules: Road Closure Announcement - Stillwater Canada Inc.: Stillwater would like to advise all Camp 19 road users the road will be closed at the 2.0 Kilometer mark to ALL traffic from October 26 to October 27, 2011 to allow for the removal and replacement of a derelict culvert. Stillwater apologizes for any inconvenience that this closure may cause and thanks you in advance for your cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns please call the Stillwater office at 90 Peninsula Road at (807)229-9430. 2012 Public Budget Meeting: On Monday, November 7, 2011, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., A public Meeting intended to give business owners and residents of Marathon an opportunity to have input into the 2012 Municipal Budget. Bag "TM", 4 Hemlo Drive, Marathon, ON P0T 2E0 or e-mail: cao@marathon.ca Starting January 3, 2012, the Recycling Centre at the WTS will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays from 2-6 p.m. The Recycling Centre accepts the following: Plastic containers (remove lids); food, beverage, metal and aluminum cans (rinse cans); aluminum foil wrap and trays; milk cartons and juice boxes (remove straws); newspapers, flyers, magazines, hardcover books (remove covers), telephone books, egg cartons (not styrofoam); cores from paper towels, toilet tissue rolls; cereal boxes (remove liners), office paper, envelopes, paperbacks, household and fine paper, clean wood, clean metal and bicycles. Landfill Expansion Open House (February 17, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Pic River First Nations Band Office) - The Town of Marathon and True Grit Consulting Ltd., invite the public, stakeholders and local First Nations to attend an Open House Information Sesson and learn more about the proposed Landfill Project. Sewage Treatability Study was completed on August 17, 2010. The purpose of this work was to assess the capabilities of the Town's existing sewage treatment plant to handle the leachate generated as a result of the proposed expansion. Hydrogeological Assessment was completed on August 17, 2010. The purpose of this assessment was to determine the net effects on the downgradient aquifer as a result of the proposed expansion.
