Protective Services Program

The Adult Protective Service Program is available to adults with a developmental disability either living at home with family, or on their own. The catchment's area is from Marathon including Manitouwadge and through to Nipigon. Services that can be provided include assistance with: accommodation, advocacy and collateral support, social and recreational support, instrumental counselling, emotional counselling, financial counselling, as well as medical/dental and legal support. This program is funded through the Ministry of Community & Social Services. Individuals are not compelled to accept services; however, there needs to be every opportunity to ensure supports/services can be accessed.  Referrals can be made in person or by a community service provider.

Mission

The mission of this program is to enhance the ability of the individual with a developmental disability to realize his/her full potential in the community.

Goals

The main goal is to enable the individual with a developmental disability living within a community setting to lead his/her life as normally and independently as possible. The long term goal is to maximize the individual's potential for independence within the community.
