Assistant Lifeguard (.doc) (.pdf)

Assistant Lifeguards are responsible for a safe and enjoyable environment at the pool, assisting the Lifeguards and Senior Guards, performing rescues and/or first aid as required and implementing all health regulations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age and one (1) year of secondary level education
  • Valid standard first aid and CPR/AED certificate
  • Valid Bronze Cross certification (Bronze Cross and the prerequisite Bronze Medallion course are being offered at the Port Hole Pool in August and September 2011)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess some knowledge of health regulations
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends
Hours of Work:

Dependent on programming schedule

Rate of Pay: $10.25 per hour
 

Lifeguard (.doc) (.pdf)

Lifeguards are responsible for a safe and enjoyable environment at the pool, assisting the Senior Guards, performing rescues and/or first aid as required and implementing all health regulations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age and one (1) year of secondary level education
  • Valid standard first aid and CPR/AED certificate
  • Valid National Lifeguard Service certificate with pool option
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess some knowledge of health regulations
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends
Hours of Work:

Dependent on programming schedule

Rate of Pay: $11.25 per hour

Instructors teach and evaluate basic swim strokes and related skills using proven teaching methods and a variety of stroke development drills and correction techniques. Instructors are certified to teach and evaluate all levels of the Lifesaving Society Swim Program: Parent & Tot, Preschool, Swimmer and Adult Swimmer

Qualifications

  • Assistant Lifeguard qualifications
  • Valid Swim Instructor certification
  • Ability to effectively teach children and adults

Rate of Pay: $17.831 per hour

Aquafitness Instructor (.doc) (.pdf)

Aquafitness Instructors provide safe and enjoyable instruction to aquafitness program participants at the Port Hole Pool.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age and one (1) year of secondary level education
  • Valid standard first aid and CPR/AED certificate
  • Completion of CALA foundation course or fitness background considered suitable by the Employer and willing to take CALA course
  • Ability to effectively communicate with public and teach adults
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends
  • Willing to take further aquafitness training to expand programming options
  • Bronze Cross certification an asset
  • Possess some knowledge of Health Regulations
