Marathon Community Services

The Community Services and Economic Development department offers a plethora of children's programming and recreational activities. Community Services is responsible to manage and maintain several municipal recreation facilities, including: Superior Slopes Ski Hill, Marathon Arena, Port Hole Pool, Peninsula Golf Course, Lakeview Community Hall, Marathon Tennis Courts, Dyer's Baseball Park, Youth Sports Park, Seniors' Sports Park, Del Earle Park, Pebble Beach Park and Penn Lake Park.

Recreation for All Ages

The department is also responsible for the following:

  • summer, fall, winter, and spring programming including public swimming, Red Cross swimming lessons, public skating, drop-in hockey, etc.
  • assist groups and organizations with their leisure activity interests and initiatives
  • prepare long-term strategies including the identification of community leisure activity needs
  • actively promote all recreation programs to ensure maximum participation and cost effectiveness
  • coordinate annual special events such as the Christmas Parade and Volunteer Service Awards
  • provide assistance to groups seeking financial or other assistance
