Becoming a Lifeguard

WANT TO BECOME A LIFEGUARD?

Enroll in our Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross classes today.  Both courses are pre- requisites for lifeguard training.  Develp skills that you'll carry with you your entire life!

 Lifeguards are more than good swimmers, they are water safety professionals, they identify the hazards in their surroundings and practice safe aquatic activities.  Come meet new people and have a rewarding career.

To become a lifeguard you must:

1. be at least 16 years of age
2. hold a current Bronze Cross Certification
3. have CPR and First Aid
4. have good interpersonal and communication skills
5. have knowledge of Health Protection and Promotion Act relating to pools
6. hold a current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certification

The lifeguard staff at Port Hole Pool train continually to keep up or improve their lifesaving and instructing skills.  We meet each week to practise scenerios including public relations issues, medical emergencies, injuries and near drownings.  Our schedule is flexible and we try our best to work around school, and other commitments.
